Changing your Crysis CD key

How to change your cd key

If you've patched your game to the latest version (1.21/1.1.1.6156) and installed the 1.21 No-DVD/Fixed EXE, and you still get the Server authentication failed (3) message when connecting to a cracked server, you need to change your CD key (which is stored in the system registry) to something random. This is because, even with a cracked game, 2 players with the same CD key cannot play on the same server at the same time. However, we can get around this by changing our CD key after the game is installed by doing the following:

  1. From your Windows desktop, go to Start > Run...
  2. Enter regedit in the dialog box and click OK
  3. Now, using the navigation panel in Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Crysis\ergc
  4. Registry Editor should look like this now:
    Double click (Default)
  5. Enter a random key (it can be anything, just make sure the total number of characters stays the same), and click OK.

    6. You've now changed your CD key, and hopefully, nobody else has the exact same key and you won't get Server authentication failed (3) on cracked servers (you'll still get it on non-cracked servers).
